T-minus 9 days to the Philly Feminist Zinefest, and just under ONE MONTH until SPX! This is a great time of year. If any of you are considering attending SPX, stop considering right now and just say "yes." It's a jubilant family reunion of angsty auto-bio minis, glossy homemade superhero trade paperbacks, and graphic novels chuck full of all the stories you can imagine. I can't even wait. Between me and then, is the Philly Feminist Zinefest! I was in Philly in June for the Philly Trans Health Conference, and am excited to get to know the town even more.
Two things: 1) I have a short interview on the PFZ's blog, which you can read here. Ever zinester tabling got asked the same 5 questions, which elicited some pretty funny answers from people (sample answer: "What is the best way to eat popcorn? -The answer is every day."). And 2), there is a review of Gay Kid 4 on Panel Patter, which you can check out here. Rob's a great guy who has a real love of all-things comics, across the spectrum from indie to Marvel. It's a little spoiler-y, but reading the review won't give *too* much away.
In other news, I can't wait to check out District Comics at SPX in September. Growing up just outside the city and now having lived here for 4 years, I'm pumped to see my two loves combine. Still need some convincing that this is awesome? Check out the interview with editor Matt Dembickiin the Huffington Post.
Well, that's all for now. See you 'round the mid-atlantic!
